Finally, poop that actually has a useful purpose! Wildlife photogs Anup and Manoj Shah use remote cameras hidden in elephant dung and grass to capture these stunning images of lions and their cubs.

I wonder what kind of Hepper beds these big kittehs would like?

OK, so these aren’t the Furries you’re probably used to, but check out these amazing sculptures by artist Nick Cave. It’s part of his Soundsuits series that were shown at the Jack Shainman Gallery.
Metal armatures adorned with a range of objects including painted ceramic birds, flowers, brass ornaments, and strands of beads, top the figures and serve as headdresses that activate the sculpture and provide a visual and textural contrast to the soft bodysuit. Soundsuits, named for the sounds made when the sculptures are worn, are as reminiscent of African and religious ceremonial costumes as they are of haute couture. A multitude of references bring to mind not only disparate cultural traditions but they also highlight Cave’s diverse background and artistic training. Cave studied and danced with Alvin Ailey and created his own clothing line which he featured in a shop he opened and ran for ten years. He is as interested in fashion and cultural, ritualistic and ceremonial concepts as he is in politics, a domain that has always been part of his work as demonstrated by acts of collecting and reconfiguring elements and concealing the identity, race, and gender, of those who wear his suits. The Fur thing doesn’t always have to be a negative! Check out the other pieces here - the construction is really incredible, and I’m in awe of his work.
Kind of reminds me - in a seriously more cheesy way - of the Cat Dancing I saw a while ago..

We are honored and excited to announce that Hepper is featured in Julia Szabo’s latest book, “Pretty Pet-Friendly“! Julia is the famous Pet-Reporter that we met at the Apartment Therapy meetup last year. She is a tireless animal advocate and amazing home stylist. From her site:
Julia Szabo produces and writes the weekly “Pets” column for the Sunday New York Post, the “Celebrity Bark” column for the American Dog, the monthly “You & Your Pet” column for Country Living magazine, and blogs for the dynamic sites Pajamas Media and Ceslie.com
We have a bunch of her books and love everything she has to say, after all our goals are similar - lots of pets in a great looking home. Yes, it’s possible! Julia also wrote about Hepper in the NY Post last year.
Pick up a copy or the book here. Congrats Julia!

The BBC reports that this height-deprived pony has been getting a lot of attention from passers-by. The local fire crews have been called so many times by citizens concerned that the pony was stuck in the mud, that the owner is considering erecting a sign that says everything is OK!
This reminds me of these crazy looking Munchkin cats. Does anyone actually have one of these kitties?

Sure, you see dogs in cars all the time now, with their heads hanging out the windows and tongues flapping in the breeze, but back in 1936 this was not so common. Check out this “new” product design featured in Popular Mechanics in June 1936. Keep those stinky, flea-ridden woofers outside! Hmmm…maybe we need a Hepper version? (don’t hold your breath!)
